Notable points on the panorama, from the left: Ullswater with Cross Fell, highest of the Pennines, Great Dun Fell and Little Dun Fell just visible on the horizon. The far ridge gradually rises to Loadpot Hill, Wether Hill (with Place Fell in front), Red Crag and High Raise. Rampsgill Head follows after a small depression with Rest Dodd just visible in front of it (and Birkhouse Moor first appears sweeping across the foreground). Further right is the highest point, High Street, with Grey Crag in front, followed by Thornthwaite Crag and Caudale Moor (with a glimpse of Ill Bell and Yoke behind it). Further right and closer is St. Sunday Crag with Red Screes just visible beyond, Dove Crag, Hart Crag , Catstye Cam in the foreground. Fairfield and Striding Edge lie beyond Swirral Edge, these edges both rising up to Helvellyn. Helvellyn Lower man is the shapely peak further to the right. Dodd is to the right of the Lake and Long Side and Carl Side lead up to Skiddaw. The escarpment of Lonscale Fell is clear in profile with Great Calva in the background before the bulk of Blencathra hides the rest of the Northern Fells from view. In the foreground the path winds down to Sticks Pass and up to Stybarrow Dodd. Watson's Dodd is to its left in front of Blease Fell, the left hand ridge of Blencathra. The ridge of the Dodds continues up to the right to Great Dodd. The fellside sweeps down from Stybarrow to Green Side with Hart Side and Great Mell Fell behind it.
