Of the six figues, some 33 feet (10 metres tall), four represent Rameses II and two his wife Nefertari. The smaller figures are the royal children. She was undoubtedly a great beauty. Paintings of her, for example in her tomb in the Valley of the Queens, show her wearing the finest, almost transparent, linen to show off her elegant figure. She died in her thirties and Rameses spent another forty years waiting to join her.
