The road sloping up above the cottages is plainly seen coming into the picture from the right. Both the right turn towards the quarry workings, and the left turn up the fellside are clear. The path becomes indistinct in the photo - it's not indistinct on the ground - but leads to the grassy knoll high up, but not on the horizon, on the left of the picture. There is also a photo of the path taken from that knoll. The hills shown are the Yewdale Fells, one of only two places, Loughrigg is the other, where I've managed to get (temporarily) lost in recent years.
