Hatshepsut's Obelisk - Karnak - image

This is the remaining obelisk of a pair erected by Hatshepsut at Karnak. It is about 97 feet (29.6 metres) tall and weighs around 325 tonnes. It is the second highest Egyptian obelisk still standing; the highest being that started by Tuthmosis III and erected by his grandson Tuthmosis IV, now in the Piazza S. Giovanni in Rome.
